A confrontation on the railroad tracks near downtown Atoka Friday evening led to a man's arrest on charges including trespassing and resisting arrest. The incident unfolded after an Atoka Police Department officer observed the individual walking on railroad property and attempted to intervene.
At approximately 5:45 PM on July 11, Officer Christian Shomo, while turning east off Ohio onto First Street, saw a male, later identified as Thaao Hopson, walking west across the railroad tracks. Upon noticing the officer, Hopson turned and began walking back towards the east side of the tracks from where he had come.
Officer Shomo instructed Hopson to stop and, informing him that being on railroad property constituted trespassing, asked for his name. Hopson identified himself as Thaao Hopson and denied having any active warrants.
