Driver Faces Charges After Two-Vehicle Collision, DUI Suspected

A two-vehicle collision in Atoka Monday afternoon led to a DUI investigation and the arrest of one driver who is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.

At approximately 4:20 PM on July 14, 2025, Officer Christian Shomo of the Atoka Police Department responded to an accident near the intersection of Highway 69 and Virginia Avenue. Upon arrival, he observed a male individual standing beside a Nissan SUV and a female holding a four-month-old infant next to a red sedan.

The female driver of the sedan explained she was in the turn lane on northbound Highway 69, attempting to turn west onto Virginia Avenue. As she made her turn, the male driver of the Nissan SUV, who was at the stop sign on Virginia Avenue attempting to turn north onto Highway 69, allegedly turned simultaneously, striking her vehicle on the rear driverside panel.
