An Atoka police investigation has led to the arrest of a registered sex offender who failed to register his location with local authorities. The suspect, identified as Lance Barcus, was taken into custody on August 18th after an arrest warrant was issued by the District Court of Atoka County.
The case began when the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Services notified the Atoka Police Department that Barcus was in Atoka but had not registered his address as required by law.
According to a police report by Lieutenant Jimmy Taylor, Barcus was known to be in the Atoka city limits since August 12th. Although instructed to leave the area and report to a different office, he remained in Atoka. Authorities also noted that his GPS monitor had gone dead.
