After coming off a 2-8 season and failing to make the playoffs, the Atoka Wampus Cats football team is hungry for success. The first opportunity for Atoka in Head Coach Luke Ring's first season with the team will come on Friday, September 5 at Ringling at 7 p.m.

"Ringling is one of the most tradition-rich football programs in Oklahoma. They are very well coached, their kids play extremely hard, and they expect to win. In any game, but especially early in the season, it will likely come down to who can protect the ball and minimize big plays and mistakes. It will be a great challenge to start the season and I am excited to see how our players compete," Ring said.

Ring stated that the team is completely different than when arrived for spring practice in May. The athletes have stuck with it and bought in to the principals and ideals that the coaches are trying to install in them. He is pleased with the progress of the team up to this point.
