Jerry Allen Douglas

Jerry Allen Douglas, Sr., known to many as “Doug,” passed away at the age of 87.He was born on January 27, 1939, in Pottersville, Missouri, to Wayman Paul Douglas and Jewell Marie Monfore (Harper).

Doug spent most of his life in Missouri and Oklahoma, building a long career in both railroad work and banking. He worked for the Frisco Railroad before moving into finance with Beneficial Finance, where he started as a repossession agent and later worked in the finance department. He went on to work at Rogers County Bank in Claremore, Oklahoma, then Mercantile National Bank as Vice President of the Loan Department. He later served as President of First City Bank in Atoka, Oklahoma, where he eventually retired.

He enjoyed staying active throughout his life. Doug played church softball and participated in rodeo events, including bull riding, steer wrestling, and steer roping. He also enjoyed golfing and water skiing.

Doug was known for his sense of humor and for telling stories. He liked making people laugh and could always keep a conversation going.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayman and Jewell Douglas; his brother, Kenneth W.

Douglas and wife Judy; his wife, Nancy Sue (Patterson) Tyler Douglas; and stepchild Scott Tyler.

He is survived by his children: Cathy Lynn Douglas Herridge and husband Carl; Jerry Allen Douglas, Jr. and wife Donna; Mitzi Douglas Henderson, and stepchild Sherri (Tyler) Sanders and husband Tom Williams. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

He shared two children with his first wife; daughter Cathy and son Jerry. He also shared one daughter with his second wife, daughter Mitzi. He later married Nancy Sue and shared many happy years and a blended family.
