Lucretia 'Pat' L. Wood

Lucretia 'Pat' L. Wood, age 92, a longtime Atoka, OK resident.

She was born on Friday, September 15, 1933, to James Arvin and Johnnie Laverne (Hampton) Cox, in a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere close to Bennington, OK.

Lucretia passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at her house in Atoka, OK.

92 years, 10 months and 15 days. She attended small rural school Impson on Banty road, until the fall of 1944. Pat finished grade school at 4th Ave Grammar School in Yuma AZ. She was voted best all around athlete and loved high school sports including softball, volleyball, basketball and track.

Pat dedicated her life to caring for her boys as a loving housewife and homemaker. She took great pride in her Choctaw heritage and often volunteered at community events whenever she had the time.

She married James Leon Wood Sr. on December 25th 1950 at the Little White Chapel in Las. Vegas, NV. They celebrated 31 years of marriage until his passing on February 6th, 1982. Pat later married Carl Lee 'Buck' Tucker on June 14th, 2001 in Denison, TX. Pat and Carl celebrate 11 years of marriage before his passing on September 18th, 2013.

Pat became a member of Atoka Assembly of God in 1963 and later attended Mt. View Pentecostal Church in Atoka. She enjoyed crafting just about anything; flower centerpieces, holiday arrangements, and beautiful Native artwork. She also created dresses and was exceptionally skilled at sewing and quilting. Pat loved her church homes and her family deeply. The most fulfilling part of her life was doing work for the Lord. She enjoyed singing hymns, cherished her family, and took great pride in raising her boys. Over the years, Pat taught numerous classes and bible school classes at church. She also served faithfully as treasurer and secretary for the Woman’s Missionary Council (WMC). Everything she did, she did for the Lord.

SURVIVED BY SONS: James Leon 'Jim' Wood Jr. and wife Joan of Claremore, Donald Gene Wood of Denison, Michael Dean Wood and wife Rhonda of Bonham.

DAUGHTER: Holly Burkhalter Lowrance and husband Rick of Hugo.

Along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren. along with step grandchildren, step great grandchildren. numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and host of friends.
