Louise Hight Cain, lifetime resident of Atoka passed away peacefully in Durant Oklahoma on July 4th 2025 aged 84 years, 7 months, 2 days. Louise was born to Jewell and Ellen (Nix) Hight on December 2, 1940. She attended the Plainview School and later graduated Atoka High School in the class of 1958. She married Foster Frederick Cain on December 2, 1976 and enjoyed 28 years of marriage prior to his death in 2004. Louise worked over 50 years in the Oklahoma newspaper industry, only retiring as publisher of the Atoka County Times in 2023 having published over 2500 issues. When not working, she enjoyed being active with friends and family. She was a member of the Atoka First Baptist Church for many years and had previously served as a Sunday school teacher. She especially enjoyed spending time in her RV. She was an active member in the Oklahoma Good Sam’s Club for many years and served as the club’s president in 1997. She also deeply enjoyed large family gatherings! and cooking excellent meals for her family and friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Jewell and Ellen Hight, her husband Foster Cain, her special companion David Crouch, her brother Robert Howard, niece Robyn Lampkin and daughter Linda Linscott.
She is survived by her son Mark Dale Cain; granddaughter Mattlyn Ross and husband Brandon as well as great-grandson Rhys; grandsons Gavin Foster Cain and Ethan Hight Linscott and wife Saranah, nephew Neil Howard, and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at Brown’s Funeral Chapel on July 11th at 10 am with Rev. Jerry Williams presiding. Pallbearers are Bryce Allen, Bob Frederick, Steve Mansell, Charles McCall, Bobby Ward, and David Youngblood. Family night Thursday 5pm-7pm Brown's Funeral Chapel Atoka.
